Fathers are the best.

I'll fill in on life and focus especially on Taylor for this post in celebration of Father's day.  First, I forgot to post about Taylor's hand.  He fell off his mountain bike in April and broke his 4th metacarpal. The Dr. said he could have surgery or not have surgery and either way he would be okay.  We probably would have gone without surgery because the Dr. said unless his is doing construction or something along those lines as a career he would probably never notice the loss of grip strength in his hand.  However, when he went back for a follow up x-ray, the Dr. found that his scafoid bone (the joint under your thumb) is broken too.  This break isn't from the accident though, it is from 6months-2 years ago, and somehow Taylor never even knew it was broken.  We got a CT scan on the scafoid and the Dr. said he has to have surgery or it will cause lots of problems throughout his life.  He already has a bone spur and some cysts growing in it, and the beginnings of arthritis, so we decided since he needs that surgery for sure, we will go ahead and do both surgeries.  However, it has to be two different surgeries because the metacarpal requires him to move his hand a lot and do physical therapy to regain motion and the scafoid needs to be in a hard cast for 4-8months. (YIKES) Anyways, so we did the first surgery in May and his hand is healing up great.  The second surgery is scheduled for the beginning of August.

Here is Taylor in his cute hospital clothes.

Since Taylor's hand has all this going on and he has to go back to school in the fall, he went to a temp agency to try and get a few short-term jobs so that he can work for a month or so between surgeries and then not have commitments when school starts again.  Right now he is working the graveyard shift at Wal-mart stacking shelves (10pm-7am).  Luckily, it's only for a month and we hope to have a short vacation in between when he finishes and before he goes in for the next surgery.

The day before Father's day, Taylor's sister and I sent Taylor and his brother in law on a "daddy date" to race go-carts and eat Tepanyaki.  Sunday morning, I made breakfast in bed and gave Taylor a card with Maddies hand and footprints on it.  We ate dinner with Taylor's family and his sister and I had these soda/treat towers waiting for them.

Maddie and I love and appreciate Taylor!  He always has a great attitude, helps with everything, has a testimony of Jesus Christ, and is a great leader and example in our home.

Here is an example of how fun it is to have him around:
