Taylor and I decided we wanted to have a fun beach trip before school started and before Taylor's next surgery on his hand, so we drove to San Diego to visit Mom and Jim. We only had a few days there but it was well worth the drive. We had lots of fun and got to enjoy the sun. It was supposed to be a 10 hour drive, but it took us about 12 hours each way because of all our stops. Maddie did really well though. She slept a lot and we brought books and toys to try to keep her entertained.
First, we went to a Marine Corps graduation. The Marine recruits go through 12 weeks of training and then they get to graduate and become real-deal marines. Mom and Jim get to sit right on the middle section in front of the parade deck. It is where the General sits, so you know they are the best seats in the house! It was so cool! Everyone who participates, and all the events are happening right in front of the General so we were close and could see and hear everything. I felt bad for the people who had to sit on the sides further down.
Maddie loved the band. She started wiggling when they were playing and she was very focused the whole time.
We went to a bay where the water was warmer and there were no waves. It still had the sand and ocean water (which Maddie kept sucking off her hands) but wasn't as windy and cool and the ocean. We practiced swimming of course.
At the BEACH!!
We also had fun at the pool.
Taylor and I got to goof around and have fun too while grandma watched the baby
